Houtverwerkingsindustrie Fransen - Family business since 127 years
At woodworking industry Fransen in Deurne quality is paramount. At its core the company offers a wide and varied range of wood products. Private and business customers can come to the company for a variety of wooden products such as beams, posts, boards, fencing, gates, fences and garden furniture. It has also been producing, delivering and installing high quality sports and playground equipment for public spaces since 1997. There is a staff of 20 at the company.
Purveyor Royal Court
The family business has existed over 127 years and was recently allowed to call itself a purveyor to the Royal Court. This is quite an honour, as only 400 companies in The Netherlands have received this designation. Project leader and technical draughtsman Hugo Fransen: “From the company, I mainly deal with the sustainable and natural sports and playground equipment we produce, supply and install in public spaces under the DEUVIE brand name. This industry is certainly growing considerably in recent years.”
Much wood dust
Hugo Fransen: “The play equipment is all custom-made, the unique designs are made by our own carpenters in our in-house factory. The production of the playground equipment involves a lot of fine dust because many hand tools are used to which direct extraction cannot be connected”. He adds: “For example, with the sanding roller, a lot of dust is released, which swirls around and lingers for a long time. We were looking for a solution to the fine dust released during production, because we want to prevent it from bothering our colleagues in the future.”

Fransen continues: “By chance, I came into contact with Euromate at a trade fair last year and that’s when the ball started rolling. A consultant visited us and advised us to use two air cleaners. The two devices are now hanging in the hall and we are satisfied with this solution.”

Hugo Fransen: “The air cleaners have been hanging in our hall for a few months now. Since the machines have been running here, we have noticed that when dust hangs here, it is actually extracted. So the devices are doing a good job. The installation of the air cleaners went well, everything went as agreed. The job was done in no time. We chose to take out a service contract because we have no experience in changing the filters ourselves. We are still to get the first service but we can already see that there is quite a bit of dust on the filter.”
Fransen concludes: “The dust that comes from woodworking is not beneficial to the health of colleagues. So using air cleaners is definitely recommended, because it really does have an effect.”
