Despite the stricter legislation in certain countries, many people worldwide still smoke. This creates an annoying and sickening smoke smell in many places. Smoke remains in many rooms due to no or poor cleaning of the air. Think of airports, residents’ rooms in healthcare institutions and smoking areas in organizations. What is smoke smell?
Tobacco smoke is released during the combustion of tobacco and contains various substances added to a cigarette, such as sugars, sorbitol and glycerol. The smoke contains relatively much acetaldehyde. In fact, it is one of the main ingredients, alongside tar, nicotine and carbon monoxide. Of the more than 6,000 substances in tobacco smoke, the WHO has selected 9 that have an extra high risk of serious health damage.
These vary from a small amount of a very harmful substance to a relatively large amount of a less harmful substance. Almost all selected substances are carcinogenic, and tobacco smoke is unhealthy for anyone who inhales it (including second-hand smokers).
What is the effect of smoke?
Smoking is therefore bad for your health. It is by far the most important lifestyle factor that causes people to become ill or die, even more important than an unhealthy diet or lack of exercise. In the Netherlands, nearly 20,000 people die each year as a result of smoking, and a smoker lives an average of 5 to 10 years shorter than a non-smoker.
With smoke from cigarettes and cigars, non-smokers and smokers often do not want to be together in the same room. This has to do with the well-known very harmful second-hand smoke effect, but also the odor that lingers in clothing. A big problem, with many negative consequences.

Smoking area
Building a smoking area is a choice if there is a lot of space available. A smoke extraction system must then be integrated into the smoking area. An air purifier is often chosen because it can remove the tobacco smoke well by means of an air purifier. recirculation (so no drain pipes and ductwork to the outside).
An air purifier is also easy to install (no chop-and-break work) and easy to move anyway. In terms of safety, it is advisable to make the smoking area completely transparent and/or to provide sufficient camera surveillance.
Smoking cabin
A smoking cabin can be used if space is limited. Large enough to accommodate several visitors, it is vandal resistant and the cabin invites you to smoke a cigarette quickly yet pleasantly. The latter is a really big advantage because no turnover can be made in the cabin. The smoking cabin is transparent as standard so that this area is always supervised. In terms of installation, the smoking cabin is fairly easy to install and is ready to plug in.
In addition, it is not necessary to attach any waste pipes or ducts to the cabin to discharge the tobacco smoke. The recirculation system filters the air from tobacco smoke and blows the clean air back into the room, without odors and nuisance from the tobacco smoke.
