People who talk, cough, cough, breathe or, for example, panting during exercise emit particles, also known as aerosols. An aerosol is a colloidal mixture of all kinds of solid, liquid and gas particles, with a size of 0.12 to 200 micrometers. Aerosols are proven carriers of germs and these tiny droplets can float in a room for hours. Breathing it in can cause illnesses such as the flu or illness from the coronavirus. All the more important that these particles are filtered out of the air.

"The air quality and atmosphere in the casino have improved significantly.""
The headquarters of Casino Royal is located in Kleve, Germany. With 550 employees, Royal Casino operates 87 casinos throughout Germany. Entrance to an exciting world of chance with the latest gaming machines in an elegant atmosphere is free of charge. Guests can enjoy quality snacks and beverages – naturally also free of charge.
The ‘Non-Smokers Protection Act’ in force since January 1, 2008 (for restaurants since July 1, 2008) applies also to casinos. This new legislation, prompted Casino Royal to solve the problem of having fun and gambling, without bothering nonsmokers. While at the same time, still allowing customers to smoke. The introduction of a specific smoking club turned out to be a temporary solution.
After the smoking clubs were banned in late 2010, the headquarters looked for an effective and everlasting solution to protect non-smokers in the Erfurt (Germany) casino. “Being so close to the city centre also means that a lot of pedestrians and traffic pass by the casino. Therefore, the majority of smokers shy away from the door“, said Jana Weineck from Casino Royal in Erfurt.
Mr. Dengel, Sales Manager of Casino Royal: “After installing the smoking cabins, the indoor air quality and atmosphere in the casino have improved substantially.
Clothes no longer smell of nicotine – even after a long visit to the casino. The smoking cabins are very well accepted and used by our customers. The positive side is that the customers can still observe the gaming machines through the open glass structure. And the gaming machines – installed in the franchises with the smoking cabins – are frequented more, which is reflected in our sales.“
The branch of Casino Royal in Erfurt has 36 very different gaming machines and 8 internet stations. Thus, the maximum number of visitors is about 40 persons. With about 65% of our customers being smokers, all of whom are not smoking at the same time, we planned 2 smoking cabins ‘Espace’ for 6-7 people. In agreement with Casino Royal, the cabins were placed as centrally as possible in the spacious rooms of the casino in Erfurt, so that the smokers always stay close to the action and can keep an eye on their gaming machine, even when smoking. The transparent design guarantees the smoker a panoramic view. In March 2011, the smoking cabins were installed and put into operation by the Euromate installation team.
With a maintenance contract, Euromate guarantees the optimal functioning of the system. Casino Royal receives a lifetime warranty on the filter cells. Used filters are checked during each maintenance service and changed at regular intervals at no extra cost. There is also no need for Casino Royal to take care of cigarette butt disposal as they will be disposed of as part of Euromate’s service during each maintenance. Ashtrays will be replaced by a clean, odourless ash container. The service intervals can be adjusted to suit needs but are usually scheduled based on usage. The smoking cabin ‘Espace’ is tested and certified at the ‘Institute for Industrial Aerodynamics’ in Aachen (Germany), based on the test guidelines of the IFA (Institute for Occupational Safety of the German Social Accident Insurance).
Euromate’s freestanding, modular smoking cabin can be installed everywhere. In a public area, near a coffee corner, inside your office or in a corridor. Thanks to its unique filtration system the cabin not only removes tobacco smoke, it also improves the overall indoor air quality, as the clean air is recirculated.
The smoking cabins blend in perfectly with virtually any environment thanks to their stylish and elegant design. The transparent walls are made of safety glass. It creates pleasant open feeling for smokers, so they do not feel left out.
