Introduction Wiewel
Dental Practice Wiewel is a private practice, located in Almere since 1992. They work with a permanent team to offer their patients personal attention and to carry out the scheduled appointments. In 1990, Maarten Wiewel graduated from the University of Groningen. Since 1992 he has been a self-employed dentist located at the Fugaplantsoen in Almere.
The practice is connected to the ANT (the Dutch Association of dentists) and SAT (Foundation Almere Dentists). Wiewel dentist works with a team of experienced assistants. The practice consists of two treatment rooms, whereby the dentist can do its job in an optimal way, while assistants prepare or clean the empty treatment room.
The team wants to keep the treatment rooms dust free in an efficient and user-friendly way.
Main reason, for Maarten Wiewel, to explore the possibilities in respect to air cleaning was to create a clean work environment for his colleagues and himself. The team wants to keep the treatment rooms dust free in an efficient and user-friendly way. Not only particulate matter but also vapors and microorganisms polluting the air within the dental practice. A very important aspect in the cleaning the air was that they had to deal with unpleasant odors. These arise from, among other cleaning materials, releasing a smell of alcohol.
Thereby Dental practice Wiewel receives many patients on a daily basis who also bring the necessary odours with them. These include tobacco smoke, body odour, strong perfume or food smells. Also they work with amalgan, although less and less. This results in high concentrations of mercury vapors in the air, harmful to both patients and staff. Maarten Wiewel: “All in all reason enough to engage with Euromate and look for an appropriate solution.”

Maarten Wiewel came at his first employer already in contact with the air cleaners of Euromate. When starting his own practice he has chosen initially for a Grace air cleaner (note: old floor model). Later he again came in contact with the advisor from Euromate. Air pollution caused by dust and odours had become more relevant, besides Mr. Wiewel wanted no equipment on the floor anymore. In both treatment rooms a VisionAir1 CarbonMax was built into the ceiling. The activated carbon filters in the air cleaners have been specially developed to capture odours.
The air cleaners have been extended with SterilAir. Microorganisms can spread very fast in the air which causes diseases such as influenza, measles and legionnaire’s disease. SterilAir consists of two UV-C lamps. The primary radiation that is generated has a near-maximum germicidal effect. In this way, microorganisms will be destroyed or inactivated (sterile). Mr. Wiewel was already familiar with the air cleaners of Euromate, as well as the service. He continued his service contract so he is ensured that his air cleaners fail to operate optimally.
