Alisa has quickly gone to working between nine and ten hours every day. Step by Step offers flexible daycare, which sometimes means early starts and late finishes. ‘We’re together in one space for long periods of time. It’s important for the children, colleagues and me for me to be confident that the work environment is a safe one, and that includes good air quality. Sometimes a little fresh air can help, but it’s not always possible to have the windows open, especially with young children around.
I wanted to look at the options of adding to our ventilation system,’ explains Alisa. She emphasises that working with young children involves dealing with bacteria and viruses. ‘In the winter in particular, colds and infections are more common. In contrast to primary and secondary education, children cannot come to us independently, they need to be brought in by their parents. With coronavirus, we are observing all relevant measures, but that does involve a degree of risk,’ she continues. Time for action at Step by Step.
