De Moerbei offers daytime and activity programmes for people who want to move forward. They have a range of different workplaces at which participants can work. For many people, participating in social activities, including work, study and volunteer work, is not such a matter of course. De Moerbei offers daytime and activity programmes for people who want to move forward. Employees understand that everyone possesses unique qualities and seek to discover what those are together with participants.
A care plan is drawn up for all participants following an intake meeting. The plan details the goals that each participant will begin working towards. The aim is to give people
perspective for the future by means of positive experiences of success. Resuming active participation can be challenging for some who have been out of work for a while and many participants say that they experience positive development by following a meaningful daily schedule and by working with others on interesting assignments. De Moerbei has a number of workplaces, all of which are characterised by sustainability, authenticity and creativity.

Bram de Bont, supervisor in the woodworking department: ‘We started nine years back with just a couple of tables, workbenches and some tools. It’s from there that we have grown the woodworking department. Over time, we have acquired machinery with source extraction to remove the wood dust. I come from a construction background, so I know that working in an environment full of wood dust is not consistent with health and safety requirements.

‘The source extractionfilters a lot of the wood dust, but there’s still particulate suspended in the air. If a piece of wood, slightly larger than sawdust, finds its way into our small vacuum cleaners, they quickly clog. If there’s a lot of sawing going on, they can’t cope and the extraction is inadequate, so it can be quite an unhealthy environment for participants, colleagues and interns. I had problems myself – very often a dry throat, itchy eyes and difficulty getting the particulate out of my nose,’ explains Bram.
‘Euromate carried out an inventory and recommended the Dust Free Industrial, which was much more affordable for us than a complete system. My colleague Nick pursued it and we now have the unit in place and to our complete satisfaction. It removes a lot of particulate, I’m really quite amazed. The unit currently runs at a capacity of 3500m3 per hour, which allows us to properly clean the air. We can go up to 5000 m3 per hour, which will be useful when there’s a lot of sawing. Others have also commented on how much cleaner and fresher the air is, so it’s a real boost for our department,’ concludes Bram.
