Introduction Care Group Patyna
Patyna was formed on 1 January 2016 as the result of a merger between various care facilities. The organisation has around 2,800 employees. They provide a wide range of healthcare and related services from over 30 locations. The organisation, with its 30 locations, is responsible for providing over 3,000 elderly people with a wide range of healthcare and related services, from home care to intensive nursing home care.
Elderly people can rely on Patyna for various types of in-home assistance, such as home care, domestic help and hot meal service. Those elderly people who wish to continue living independently yet want to have good care close at hand can choose to live at a Patyna service residence. Patyna also offers sheltered housing and they provide a home to many elderly people through the residential care centres.

One of the Patyna locations is the Dr. Wumkeshûs residential care facility in Sneek. They offer 24-hour-a-day expert care and supervision as well as options for temporary or short-term stays and night care. This location has a women’s changing room where the air quality was drastically in need of improvement. The room is lined with lockers where the staff can store their personal belongings and clothing. Shoes are placed on top of the lockers.
Patyna’s Mr Anne Kamstra: “We were receiving more and more complaints about the unpleasant odours in the dressing room. The main problem was the shoes placed on top of the lockers, but there were also comments about the strong scent of perfume, for example.” The care centre wants to provide a pleasant changing area for personnel and therefore sought a solution that not only takes care of the objectionable odours but also improves the overall air quality. The air extraction and air circulation options were examined closely.

Euromate was a familiar name within the Patyna organisation, so Anne Kamstra contacted Euromate account manager Gerard Boomer. After surveying the situation, first a Grace air cleaner (freestanding model) was put in place to demonstrate the improvement. Anne Kamstra: “The test was efficient and met our expectations. It allowed us to quickly see for ourselves how well the air cleaner works. Since we prefer to keep the space on the floor open, after our positive experience we decided to have a VisionAir2 CarbonMax installed in the ceiling.” The CarbonMax filter contains activated carbon and removes unpleasant odours and harmful gases.
Thanks to the large filter surface area it is capable of cleaning large volumes of air. Moreover, it removes dust from the air and blows clean, fresh air back into the room. Anne Kamstra: “The VisionAir can also be fitted with FreeBreeze cups. We decided to add that option. It adds a pleasant smelling scent to the air. Our VisionAir always runs at the same setting. It works great and the personnel are happy with this solution and the fresh smelling locker room.” A maintenance contract was agreed to ensure everything continues to work as it should.
