Facility Manager and Head of Outpatient Services Edwin van Seters, member of the Florence team for more than 25 years, had been seeking a solution for the odour problem for some time. Particularly in the morning, during patient washing and changing, unpleasant odours from incontinence material were present in public areas. These lingering odours resulted in a far from optimal environment for the clients, visitors and employees. During his search for a solution, Edwin van Seter set his sights on finding a structural, lasting solution that did not involve the introduction of chemical substances into the air.
He saw the use of a ‘scent pole’ system that disperses fragrance oil, for instance, as a chemically greasy solution. It also proved difficult to find a fragrance that everyone found acceptable. Convalescent home Gulden Huis has already been using the VisionAir ElectroMax air filters in the various smoking areas since 2003. During the presentation of the CarbonMax filter the decision was made to conduct a test to observe the effect of this new filter and see whether it could provide a solution for the odour problem.
