Smurfit Kappa has a strong network in the Benelux comprising more than 25 companies with 3000 employees and is market leader in various segments of the packaging industry. Smurfit Kappa Vandra is part of Smurfit Kappa Benelux, one of the largest producers of cardboard and cardboard packagings. They are specialists in the design and production of corrugated cardboard and solid cardboard packaging solutions in every conceivable size, form, dimensions and thickness.

A great deal of (fine) dust is released during the production process at Smurfit Kappa Vandra in Oosterhout.
H&S and Environment Coordinator, Hans de Kruyf: “We’ve been facing this problem for years. Studies have been ongoing for a long time into the consequences of exposure to paper dust. Until today they have not yet proved that this is harmful. It goes without saying, however, that the health of our employees comes first.”

Hans de Kruyf: “You simply have to get rid of the dust. When the oer came from Euromate to nd out what the situation was by means of a dust measurement, we decided to launch the project.”

After a thorough study and the dust measurement carried out in the previous project, the advisor from Euromate recommended the installation of four HFE air cleaners with bag filter that are located at strategic points in the production shop.
Hans de Kruyf: “During the project, Euromate showed that they really wanted to find the right solution for our organisation. The plant manager and advisor both spoke the same language.”
Smurfit Kappa invested in an improved working environment for its employees. Hans de Kruyf: “You can really see the difference; we now have far less trouble with excessive dust. During the filter change by the service fitter, we see what an incredible amount of fine dust is filtered out of the air. We have decided to purchase four new HF air cleaners for another part of our production facilities.”
The air cleaners also ensure less dust and dirt in the machines; in the longer term this results in less standstills of the machines, so that time and money are saved.
HF-Series
Euromate’s HFE unit is a very effective and efficient system for filtering dust particles. Even welding fumes and oily mist pose no problem for this system. The HFE system is built around an electrostatic filter and has an integrated fan.

- The reduction of dust and rubber particles results in a pleasant and healthy working environment.
- Very energy efficient. The HFE unit circulates the filtered, preheated air, creating an airflow that maintains an even temperature throughout the room.
- The reusable, cleanable electrostatic filter (fine dust) in combination with the bag filter (coarse dust) ensures very effective air cleaning.
