The local consultant assessed the situation along with Jos van ’t Walderveen, operations manager of Diapriva. The dialysis room is equipped with a sophisticated air circulation system, yet increasing the volume of airflow would result in unacceptable drafts. The installation of air purifiers in the suspended ceilings was determined to be the right approach; filtering and recirculation of the indoor air at low velocity was the solution.
Air purifiers are distributed throughout the clinic, one per dialysis station. These VisionAir air cleaners containing more than 4 kg of activated carbon. The filters, which adsorb a broad spectrum of gaseous components, are changed every six months under a service contract.
Mr. Jos van ’t Walderveen: “This project was carried out very professionally. The timetable was provided in advance and the work was carried out according to schedule. It all went very smoothly. What is particularly noticeable since the installation of the air purifiers is that the peaks of odour nuisance are less intense and that the air quality quickly returns to normal levels.”
